American by blood and French by proximity, Genevieve grew up the daughter of Americans living in France for the first 19 years of her life. While always being identified as "The American", she decided she needed to find out what it was like to actually live here, so she enrolled in the Art Education program at Kent State University. It was here where she sharpened her visual palette, first with drawing and painting, then later with photography. Shortly before completing her degree, she and James met, and they were married 18 months later. Her eye and skill for travel and fine art photography slowly morphed into photojournalistic and artistic people photography, and Genevieve Nisly Photography was born. Now, Genevieve serves as the heart of Genevieve Nisly Photography, guiding the creative direction and keeping them focused on what matters most; documenting relationships and the events that shape them.
